Snow pushers

Snow box pushers are also known as one of the biggest containment plows. The are also sometimes called box plows. Snow removal contractors use them to push snow as it even removes hard pack snow. These heavy duty snow plows are gaining popularity among several industries, quickly. They are quite versatile machines and if one type doesn’t work, there is always another attachment or an upgraded piece that can be purchased to assist in whatever process you are taking on.

The best place to use these is a wide open area since they are some of the biggest containment plows. The whole idea is to quickly and efficiently remove a lot of snow in a short amount of time. Airport tarmacs, trucking center, distribution warehouses and large commercial buildings are where these biggest containment plows are generally used but they can also be used in smaller places as well. Smaller parking lots can be cleared using a six to 12 foot wide box plow. This goes along with how versatile snow plows can be. While they are initially made for large areas, there is still a smaller area option.

Some of the plows are made at an angle in order to shove the snow towards the sides of the road. This is not efficient when removing snow from a parking lot or open space however so the biggest containment plows push the snow straight ahead, keeping the snow contained with walls on either side of the plow. Typically, you should be able to collect up to five times more snow than with a regular plow. This is very helpful when it comes to plowing large areas. For example, if there is a lot of snow fall over night, then in order for a business to open its doors on time the next morning, they’ll need to remove a lot of snow fairly quickly.

The downside of these plows is that they are hard to transport. If they need to be moved then special plans have to be made. They are very wide and you cannot simply drive it to its destination. A snow plow that can be mounted on a pick up truck is much easier to transport from place to place, which is pretty much the only reason why anyone would still use a regular snow plow.

There are different kinds of cutting edges that can be used interchangeably on box plows. Rubber and steel are the main ones and each has its benefits.

The rubber blade works well when the snow is slushy because it acts as sort of a squeegee and is more careful to protect any surfaces. It not very effective, however, where there is hard packed snow.

The steel blade works for that hard packed snow and ice. It’s a very durable metal so will not break easily even if it hits something unexpected. However, it is much more expensive initially than the rubber blade. Overtime, it will pay for itself but the first out of pocket payments may seem steep.

Another advantage of both types of blades and the plow overall is the warranty. The warranty covers the first 10 years whereas most companies will only give a two or three year warranty, if any at all. Some people have reported being able to use these products for more than 20 years and have not needed the warranty but the fact that it has such a long warranty speaks to the expected lifespan of the equipment.

You also have the option to completely customize your snow pusher from blade to connection to color. Sometimes, company’s will buy a specific color for no other reason that to make it associate with their business brand and theme. It’s a nice convenience and upgrade for those who want to use it as part of their advertising.

If you are considering ways to get rid of the snow next winter, then this might be a great option for you, especially if you have a large area that needs to be cleared regularly. Rather than hiring someone all the time it would be far more cost effective to have your own machine that you could use over the next 20 or more years.
