This works by the criminal sticking a magnetic tracking device to the car that they want to track. They then use an app on their phone to find the car at a later time during which they commit the nefarious deed. However, there is a critical flaw in this plan that we as consumers can use to protect ourselves. Simply download an app on your phone that identifies these trackers. These trackers output a Bluetooth signal which the apps can track. These apps will alert you if an AirTag has been around the immediate area for more than 20 minutes.
